I visited KASHIMAJIMA Island in Karatsu on the same day as a day trip. From a guesthouse in Itoshima, Fukuoka.

Japan has multiple inhabited islands sharing the name Takashima. For identification purposes, my blog and MAHARAJIMA will refer to them as Saga Takashima and Karatsu Takashima.

【Island Features】
・Many people visit Takara-tō Shrine to make wishes during lottery sales periods. It’s said over 200,000 people visit annually.
・An island with many fishermen.
・Shioya Shrine has long existed on Takashima.
It is Takashima’s guardian deity, established by Nozaki Oki no Kami Tsunayoshi no Mikoto, who is also enshrined at Takara-tō Shrine. Visiting here comes before Takara-tō Shrine.
