加唐島：Location of KAKARASHIMA Island
【Resident Basic Register Information as of August 6, 2025】 Registered residents: 101 ・It was written as “各羅嶋” and pronounced “Kakura in 720 years.” Later, the reading changed to the kanji for “Kakura” in 1605 years. 【Island Features】 ・・An island with deep ties to Korea. ・Birthplace of King Muryeong, the 25th ruler of Baekje. An annual birth anniversary festival is held here, serving as an example of Japan-Korea exchange. ・Kakodo Island appears in the Nihon Shoki, indicating ancient exchanges with Korea. Legend also holds that Empress Jingu performed her ceremonial sash-tying ritual on this island before her expedition against Silla.

The day I visited happened to be when Yasaka Shrine was holding its festival.
Since my return ferry time was approaching, I couldn’t see the full proceedings. The decorations were in festival mode. I was lucky to get some photos.
