The origin of the rock within the Okinawa area remains unclear.
As the design resembles those commonly found in Okinawa and Kyushu, no paint is applied.
The same grave for generations
It is possible to enter the grave. Only the bone urns are placed inside.
The space around the grave, like a garden, is a kind of area where people sometimes offer prayers. My relatives don’t seem to use it. They probably used it in the past, though.
In our case, the interior of the grave is about 2-3 tatami mats in size. The height allows an adult to stand upright inside. It’s a grave with considerable depth.
We don’t normally go inside.
Since my parents are the representatives of our family in this area, I saw inside the tomb this time. Normally, it’s closed and never opened.

They do observe some events on the solar calendar, but they’re not major ones.
Christmas and such are just foreign religious events, after all.
