On Google Maps, it looks like an artificial island with its rectangular shape, but it is actually the result of land reclamation work. It was originally a natural island. Until around the 1960s, there was a village here with rows of Malay-style houses.

Of Singapore’s approximately 60 islands, Pulau Ubin is the only inhabited island other than worker housing that has been preserved.
Pulau Damar Laut(ダマル・ラウト島)

This island has a checkpoint with Singapore Main Island. Private security companies and the Singapore Armed Forces are responsible for security.

Jurong Island is still an infrastructure hub in Singapore and is under military jurisdiction.
There are many stations and areas on the main island of Singapore that use the name Jurong, such as Jurong East. As a result, many tourists visiting Singapore misunderstand this fact.
Pulau Damar Laut(ダマル・ラウト島)
This island is more difficult to photograph than Jurong Island. Since it is uninhabited, it does not appear in my manga series Maharajima. It used to be inhabited, though.
