【Penalties】
First offense: A fine of up to S$2,000 (approx. ¥226,000) or imprisonment for up to three months, or both.
*Personal Mobility Devices (PMDs) such as kick scooters will be treated similarly.
【Covered Areas】
Only certain areas as of August 2025. To be expanded in the future.
【Identifying Violators】
CCTV and body cameras will be utilized as necessary.
【Purpose of Introducing Penalties】
Land Transport Authority (LTA): “To protect the safety of vulnerable road users, particularly pedestrians, the elderly, and children.
Where pedestrian walkways and cycle lanes are separated, pedestrians may walk on cycle lanes. However, for safety reasons, pedestrians are encouraged to use pedestrian walkways.”
