I wrote this because I thought Singapore’s development project would be a good reference point, given Japan’s current lack of measures to deal with the rise in sea levels caused by global warming and its impact on natural islands with human populations. I do not intend to make a simple comparison with Japan, nor do I mean to disparage Japan (one factor is that Japan has more than 200 times as many inhabited islands as Singapore).

Technical research will begin in early 2024, and parallel discussions are planned with stakeholders, the general public, and Singaporeans.
If new technologies are developed during construction or promising patents are filed in other countries, will licensing agreements also be considered? Personally, I am curious to know whether the Singapore Intellectual Property Office will provide behind-the-scenes support in this regard (as there is no mention of this anywhere). How will the development order and supervisory responsibilities be recorded in the business consignment contract?
