Wildlife/Tourism.St. John Island in Singapore

KODAKARAJIMA

Numerous endangered species of flora and fauna designated as such within Singapore reside here. I see students visiting for nature studies here almost every time (I see them every time).

Some Japanese residents in Singapore claim on websites that “there are no lodging facilities on this island,” but there are. There are English signs on-site, and it’s been operating for years (I’ve confirmed the initial post containing this incorrect information was made in a year when it was already open).
This place also has events where lodging fees drop to 50% about once a year (though they’re held quite irregularly).

St. John Island

Peacocks stroll through the museum with free passes.

Based on Ira’s experience, the encounter rate with him is about 50%. Even if he’s there, he’ll only stay for about 10 minutes. He walks around calmly even when there are lots of people. However, he’ll run away if children or others approach him, so it’s best to keep your distance.

Map and Size of St. John Island

It takes over 30 minutes to walk around the entire island. Some slopes are present, but most of the island is flat. There are three outdoor restrooms. There is one port.

Unlike Japan, the waters here are remarkably calm, so it’s no exaggeration to say the cancellation rate is 0%. Even when swimming at the beach, you’re unlikely to be swept away by waves. You can cool off in the air-conditioned museum.

Signage and Origin of St. John Island

St. John’s Island was originally named Sekijan (also known as Sakijan).
This name combines the Malay words “si” and “kijang”; “si” means “barking,” “one,” or “egg,” while ‘kijang’ means “deer.”
